Scott is a PGA professional with over 25 years’ experience in the golf industry. He has a strong track record with fellow professionals, suppliers and golfers with an excellent reputation for innovative use of technology. He is renowned in the UK golf community for his attention to detail and the high quality of custom fitting services that SGGT provides.
“I wanted to give each customer the personal touch and go back to how golf clubs were made 50 years ago. My vision is for SGGT to offer a personalised Tour Truck Experience for the amateur golfer so that they have the best performing clubs for their game."
Scott became a keen golfer from around the age of 10 when he began attending group coaching on a weekly basis. By the age of 12, he was a junior member at Newbattle golf club and hooked on the game. Weekends, school holidays and evenings were now taken up with his new passion.
One of Scott’s first roles was at American golf. He started on the shop floor but soon found himself in the fitting bay. After a few years this led to a new role - travelling up and down the country running fitting days. This helped Scott gain a vast knowledge of not only product, but how different products perform. In 2017 Scott joined SGGT as Lead Fitter and continued his passion for helping all golfers become better players.
“Initially I learnt how to build golf clubs and understand the finer details as to how clubs work. This helped enormously with gaining a full understanding as to how all products performed. I currently work with all levels of golfers from complete beginners, through to elite amateurs and tour players."
James has been playing golf since aged three and grew up to become a low single figure handicapper at Leven Links. His passion for golf continued into the fitting side of the industry in 2005 with Nevada Bobs and then subsequently American Golf where he designed their Master Fitter training program. Now with SGGT he revels in the extra freedom he has to fit golfers into the best clubs for their game.
“I absolutely love golf clubs and have always been interested in how they work. In mainstream retail fitting we were restricted to the shafts that the manufacturer offered as part of their range. What excites me about custom fitting golfers at SGGT is that there is no restriction on what I can offer them. I can combine any head on any shaft to get the best preforming clubs for their swing and that makes me as happy as them!"
Aaron has been fitting clubs since 2015 with retailer American Golf for 6 years and then for PXG for 3 years. He therefore brings a wealth of experience across a wide range of product categories from drivers and irons to wedges and putters. A scratch golfer and former club champion he plays regularly at Leven Links.
"When I am fitting clubs I really enjoy the journey with each customer from what they have to what they can be. Previously I would be talking the story of the product, but would be restricted by what a brand could offer. Now at SGGT I can tell the story of everything because with any option available, if I don't have the answer then the answer probably doesn't exist."
Ryan has over 9 years' custom fitting experience gained in Scotland, Australia and the USA. Now back in Scotland he has experience of fitting clubs at American Golf and also fitting and building clubs for clients at Scottsdale Golf. Now part of SGGT he loves the flexibility that our independent approach offers customers.
“I love meeting golfers and helping them improve in a fun and friendly atmosphere. My aim is for the customer to like what they see in the club and the numbers so we can create the ideal combination of optimum performance and looks”.
Laurence is PGA qualified and has been fitting clubs since 2008 and brings a thorough knowledge of golf equipment and fitting programs to SGGT England. Firstly as head of fitting for the 10 venues in the BGL Group for 10 years and then as the lead fitter for 5 years with PXG. He is a former Yorkshire county player and having regained his amateur status is back on the links of Chesterfield with a low single figure handicap.
“I am delighted to be with SGGT in England as their independent approach enables me to choose from over 600 shafts across all the brands in the market. I believe in making the golf club function according to what the golfer can do and what their needs are. Building the clubs in-house means we can offer tour level build quality so that club function is personalised to the individual.”
Jordan joined SGGT after 3 years as a fitter with American Golf followed by a stint at Cobra Golf in their fitting and sales support function. A regular single figure handicap golfer, he is delighted to be fitting at SGGT with the range of options that are on offer.
"Creating custom golf clubs at SGGT is fitting with no constraints. It's great building the benefits on top of each other, starting with a shaft that improves performance, then the best head to go with it and then fine tuning with the right grip and swingweight to get the optimum club. Being able to test and adjust each element as you go through the fit is what makes fitting at SGGT special."
James started playing golf aged 5 and is now a PGA Professional who plays regularly in regional and national PGA events. Before joining SGGT he was a golf coach and brings an insightful knowledge of Trackman and how the club moves during the swing to his custom club fitting.
"For me it's all about the flight of the ball and your equipment plays a major part in that. The knowledge and data we have available to us at SGGT means we can create clubs that deliver the best results for golfers whatever their swing!"
For Bruce golf was always a passion whether that was playing, practicing or keeping up to date with equipment releases and technology. He has now turned that passion and experience into a full time career within Scotland’s leading golf fitting and performance centre.
“Build accuracy and quality is the key to what we do, which is why we build everything onsite using the latest equipment and components. Working in this environment and pushing the boundaries further every day, only deepens my passion for this game”.
Jonny grew up playing golf in North Berwick where he seems to spend all his spare time honing his single figure handicap when he is not building clubs and dispatching them to happy SGGT customers. Jonny comes from a technical and mechanical background and has been tinkering with club heads and shafts since he was a boy. Now he gets to do it for real and he ensures that every order leaves SGGT exactly as the customer was fitted for it.
"I have always enjoyed adjusting golf clubs and focusing on attention to detail. It's great to speak every day with all our customers and to ensure that the custom fitted clubs they receive are exactly what they need to improve their game."
Scott has been working in golf for 20 years, starting as an assistant pro at Carluke. He then spent 7 years building clubs for Mizuno before joining SGGT. His knowledge of creating clubs for a major manufacturer is now combined with the specialist craftsmanship that he can now deliver at SGGT.
"At SGGT am able to offer the next level in custom fitting and I love working across every brand. Here I work hand in hard with the club fitters to create clubs and the checking before and after building is meticulous to ensure that everything is how the customer requested it."
Carys is an experienced content creator having worked for the R&A and the Stephen Gallacher Foundation. She is also an excellent golfer and regularly completes in national and international tournaments.
