TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver Review Video

SGGT fitter Ross Leeds joins with our independent reviewer in residence Martin Hopley in the Lyle studio to review the three models in the Stealth 2 driver range.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver Review

The standard model in the TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver range is designed to be more forgiving than the previous version and our testers found that to be the case with a tighter dispersion. There is more carbon than titanium in this version and the lighter face means that TaylorMade can create more forgiveness elsewhere.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver

At address the look is still the classic TaylorMade style with a slightly toe heavy look and the usual bug alignment aid. The top line has been made slightly straighter at address with a matt finish to help you line the club up correctly. More evolution than revolution, but the increased forgiveness is noticeable and worth an upgrade if you struggle for accuracy with your current Stealth driver.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD Driver Review

The HD version of the driver stands for High Draw, but this is less of a draw bias club than before. The more rounded head at address looks the best of the three Stealth 2 models and enables the weight to be drawn low and back.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD Driver

The Stealth 2 HD driver does spin the most but it is the easiest and most fun to hit. The HD set up with the sole weight more towards the heel will straighten up a fade, but if you already hit it straight or with a draw then it still goes pretty straight. Compared to previous HD models this is going to be a viable option for more players, so go in with an open mind and you may be rewarded with a very easy club to hit.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Driver Review

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus driver brings more adjustability to the range with a 15g sliding sole weight just behind the Speed Pocket in the front of the sole. The 460cc head has a taller more compact profile at address to create a lower spinning option by a few hundred rpm compared to the standard model.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Driver

If your swing speed is in excess of 100mph with the right launch, then the Stealth 2 Plus will be an option provided you have the accuracy, as there is not as much margin from error as the standard model. However it is more forgiving than the previous version so if you have the Plus then it might be worth comparing to the new version to see if you can hit a few more fairways.
