The Callaway Ai Smoke Fairway wood benefits from a new Ai Smrt face that has taken data from thousands of shots from Callaway owned facilities like TopGolf and TopTracer on tour to design a face that is more forgiving.

Behind the surface the face has built up areas to place weight behind the points where the ball is likely to be struck to generate more speed and stability.

In addition the carbon chassis has been redesigned to enable 24g to be redistributed from the body to improve the launch and forgiveness. 12g has gone into the blue front weight with the other 12g moving towards the rear.

The Callaway Ai Smoke fairway comes in Max, Max D and Triple Diamond models and I put them through their paces in the Lyle Studio on Trackman using Titleist Pro V1 balls.

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fairway Review

The Callaway Ai Smoke Max fairway is a big visual improvement on the Paradym woods. The darker look of the carbon lattice of the Forged Carbon crown at address gives a cleaner and stealthier look.

The sole still features elements of the blue Paradym range, but thankfully it is a bit more muted and the adjustable hosel offers a good range of adjustability.

The sound and feel at impact was very good and the Ai Smoke Max fairway was very easy to hit with a light feel. There is a wide range of lofts from the 15° 3-wood I tried here up to a 27° 11-wood so there should be something for everyone.

On Trackman the Ai Smoke Max face was going through the air quicker for me and gained a little extra ball speed and distance as a result. It was very consistent too and the fact that it was easier to hit and more forgiving means that it would be a good upgrade for anyone struggling with their Paradym fairway.

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Driver Review

Callaway Ai Smoke Triple Diamond fairway

For those who have a bit more swing speed and would like a lower spinning fairway, then the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond fairway could be for you. The steel sole plate and forward screw lowers the flight and the more compact head brings the CG closer to the face to reduce spin.

The Ai Smoke Triple Diamond fairway also wants to sit a little open, but that aside it was relatively easy to get airborne and could have a wider audience than most low spinning fairways in the market.

On Trackman the Ai Smoke Triple Diamond produced similar numbers to the old Paradym, which shows how much better the Max is than before. However the lower flight height affected the carry distance, so this could make a good driving fairway for certain types of player.

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Fairway Review Summary

The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke fairway wood range feels like a step back to the good old days of Callaway fairways. Great to look at and easy to hit with plenty of loft options, the Ai Smoke could well be in your bag if you come for a custom fairway wood fitting at SGGT.
