Craig Ronald is joining the SGGT team and promoting us on Tour. Craig is a renowned Scottish Touring Professional and former European Tour player with 77 wins on the Tartan Tour including the 2004 Scottish PGA Championship.

As well as being a PGA Pro and golf coach at GolfIt! by the R&A in Glasgow, he is now playing on the Senior Tours so we caught up with him to find out why he has joined up with SGGT.

What have you noticed most about getting your clubs from SGGT?

Scott’s attention to detail is second to none. Everything he had put into my bag is a lot better than what I had. Whether it’s flight or looks, he just listens to what you want and builds the clubs around you. I can’t fault anything he’s put into the bag for me.

What has been the biggest difference?

With the irons the flight is so much better. My last irons I was never 100% happy with the flight of them, but these are coming into the greens a lot higher and stopping quicker on the greens.

When we were doing the iron fitting with 4i/6i/8i/PW, Scott brought one club at a time and said ‘hit that club, how does that shaft feel’. He would then go away and come back with another set up and what I came out with was different weights for each of my iron shafts. So I have 105 gram shafts in my wedges and 9-iron, 95g shafts in my 6-8 and 85g shafts in my 4 and 5-iron and they all feel great.

Today we were in looking at the driver and changing styles of head, loft, weight set up and shaft in order to get more ball speed and distance. The choice is amazing and I know that what I have in the bag is optimum for me.

What would you say would be the biggest difference between a regular manufacturer fitter and SGGT?

I think at the end of the day, SGGT will fit you for what you need, not what they want to sell you. That’s the beauty of what they do. The numbers on the screen tell you what is the best for you and I think that’s why a lot of amateur and tour players trust SGGT.
