TaylorMade Stealth 2 Fairway Wood Review Video

Our reviewer in residence Martin Hopley joins SGGT fitter Ross Leeds in the Lyle Studio to review the three models in the Stealth 2 fairway wood range.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Fairway Wood Review

There are three models in the TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway range and the standard model sees a shallower face profile that looks as good as the original. Whilst there was a small gain in distance, it was the improvement in forgiveness that was most noticeable. This is impressive as the original Stealth fairway was one of the most forgiving in the market, but the shallower face takes this further. Therefore if you are struggling with the accuracy of your current Stealth fairway then an upgrade to the Stealth 2 should see an improvement.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD Fairway Wood Review

New to the range is the HD version of the Stealth 2 fairway, which features a deeper shaped head to improve forgiveness and create a draw bias. The HD stands for High Draw, but don't think this is going to go left on you, as the effect was more subtle. A great addition to the range, the HD will spin more than the standard model and will suit mid to low swing speed players and those who need more launch.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Fairway Wood Review

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus fairway has undergone the biggest revamp of the three models. It now has a carbon crown, an adjustable hosel and a new variable face thickness design. However the standout feature is a sliding weight in the sole that moves the CG from front to back to vary the spin and launch.

With the weight in the front this is a very low spinning club that will be ideal as a driving fairway. Compared to the previous Plus model with the fixed weight, the sliding weight of the Plus 2 creates a much better spin profile for high swing speed players.

In the middle position it starts to become an option for better players, but you would need to be striking it well to benefit from the lower level of forgiveness than the standard model.

In the back position the weighting gets closer to the standard model, but the balance feels different. This may still suit some players, but a comparison fitting would determine the best model for high speed players who need a higher launch.
