The Mizuno T24 wedge is made from Grain Flow Forged 1025 Boron steel, which is good for groove strength and feel.

The head is a similar size to the previous T22 wedge, but Mizuno has ground the top line around toe and heel in order to make it look more compact. This is quite subtle, but the good news is that this visual trickery still offers similar levels of forgiveness to before.

There is a wide choice of lofts from 46° up to 60° that come in a range of up to 6 grinds depending on the loft. New to the family is the V grind on the 56°, 58° and 60° lofts that features a high bounce centre section with more aggressive trailing edge, heel and toe relief than the others.

The heads also come in a choice of Soft White Satin, Denim Copper and Tour Raw finishes that can be easily personalised using the SGGT laser engraving and stamping service.

The groove shape and spacing vary with the loft and the new Quadcut+ grooves do a very good job of creating plenty of spin. The lower lofts up to 52° have 17 narrower grooves closer together and the higher lofts from 54° to 60° have 15 wider grooves to channel water, grass and sand away so that you get maximum grip on the ball.

Going through the SGGT wedge custom fitting process, I tested the Mizuno T24 wedges outdoors on the chipping green and from sand, as well as hitting full shots from grass.

The feel from the Mizuno T24 wedges is very good and if you have Mizuno custom fitted forged irons then they will blend in perfectly. They are almost an extension of the iron set and with the straighter leading edge on the pitching wedge lofts up to 51° they provide a crisp strike.

The higher lofts all perform well too and the choice of different grinds should give you plenty of options to find one that suits the type of swing you have and the conditions you regularly play in. Like most Mizuno wedges over the years, they are lovely to play with and tend to feel on the lighter side of the pack.

The relatively narrower soles also seem to play with less bounce than the number suggests. This is not a good or bad thing, just the way they are and that is why a wedge custom fitting service will determine if these are the right wedges for your game, as they are certainly a contender.
