How Your Custom Clubs Are Created

Many of you will have been to SGGT for your fitting and then received your clubs, but what happens in between? Take a journey with us now through the process that custom builds clubs to the most exacting standards with the sole aim of improving your golf.

From Fitting To Reality

The specifications from your fitting are passed over to the work shop where Harry selects the components that will be used to create your clubs.

Each head is checked for loft and lie and adjusted if necessary. Shafts are SST Pured for consistency using the only machine in Scotland. This is an optional extra, but well worth the performance benefit.

Building The Clubs Of Your Dreams

After checking the specification again to ensure the correct items are there, Bruce prepares the shafts for length and ensure that the swing weights of each club match the specification made by the fitter. Different grips styles and widths will vary in weight, so it is essential to add balancing weight to the head to hit the swing weight requested by the fitter.

The clubs are put together and usually left for 24 hours for the glue to set. Then the ferrules are polished off, the grips added and the clubs are ready for final checking.

Quality Control

This final stage is where Jonny double checks the length, lie, loft and swing weight to ensure that all clubs leaving SGGT are built to the tightest of tolerances. A detailed spec sheet is included in the box so customers have all the exact specifications of their clubs.

At this point you will probably hear from Jonny when he contacts you to say your clubs are ready and arranges payment and delivery.

He's probably the next SGGT person you hear from after your fitting, little realising everything that has gone on in between to create the most precise custom fitted clubs in the industry.
