TaylorMade Qi35 Fairway Review
07 January 2025
By independent reviewer Martin Hopley
The TaylorMade Qi35 fairway wood has to follow in the footsteps of some of the best fairway woods in the market. It replaces the TaylorMade Qi10 fairway wood and the major change is that the Qi35 comes with an adjustable hosel in the 3 and 5 wood versions.
The loft sleeve can change the head loft through a range of 4° as well as varying the lie angle which gives the SGGT fitting team plenty of options.

The face is a little bit shallower than before too, which is a good thing as some of the recent Stealth fairways had quite tall faces.
The weights in the sole are now visible and modify the CG position to create a better launch from an improved head shape.

The head comprises a chromium carbon crown with a steel and aluminium chassis to keep the weight as low as possible to improve the launch conditions.

There are three different models and we took them for a spin on on Trackman in the Lyle Studio with Titleist ProV1 balls hit outdoors.

TaylorMade Qi35 Fairway Review
The standard Qi35 fairway has a single weight position in the front and a lovely deep rounded head to balance speed with forgiveness.

At address it sits beautifully behind the ball and the new silver gun metal finish looks pretty good too. Having an adjustable hosel meant that we could compare heads using the same shaft.
The shallower Qi35 head had a lower flight with significantly less spin than the Qi10 and was posting similar numbers with a different flight. It felt very easy to hit and if the landing angle needing increasing then tweaking the adjustable hosel or moving up a head loft would probably do the job.

TaylorMade Qi35 Max Fairway Review

The TaylorMade Qi35 Max features a deeper head with the weight towards the rear of the sole. This is aimed at slower swing speed players and therefore the standard loft is a touch higher at 15.5°.

On Trackman you can see the higher spin numbers and visually it was a higher flight than the Qi35 too. There is also a Max Lite version that is the same shape but weighs less so if you struggle to get a fairway wood going there will be a Max options for you.
TaylorMade Qi35 Tour Fairway Review
The Tour version of recent TaylorMade fairway woods is one of the favourites among touring professionals worldwide. The more compact head shape and variable weight placement enables these high swing speed players to really dial in their woods.

With the sliding 40g weight in the back position, the Qi35 Tour felt pretty similar to the standard Qi35. The more compact head generated more ball speed from a similar swing speed, and it could be because this head shape enabled me to make better contact at impact.

Changing the sliding weight to the front position moved the CG forward and whilst the spin did not vary much the launch and flight was a lot lower. In the Qi35 Tour the weight can be removed and flipped to put the heavier end even further forward so there is a lot of adjustability if you need it.
The Qi35 Tour felt more forgiving than previous Tour fairway models and it would be a very good club from the tee. Higher swing speed players will love this, but even though it was best on test for me, I would prefer something a little more forgiving for all round use.
TaylorMade Qi35 Fairway Wood Review Summary
The Qi35 is another very good looking and excellent performing fairway wood from TaylorMade. The shallower head and lower CG make the range easier to hit and the clean looks stand out really well.

The addition of an adjustable hosel on the 3 and 5-wood gives fitters a few more options to fine tune these lofts of head to ensure that you can get the best performance from these woods on the fairway.
