The TaylorMade Qi10 fairway is the successor to the excellent TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway wood and as such has a hard act to follow. This probably means that they won't mess too much with what works, so let's take the 3 models to the Lyle Studio to compare them.

TaylorMade Qi10 Fairway

The standard TaylorMade Qi10 fairway has had a visual makeover and the re-appearance of the V Steel moniker on the sole highlights the steel in the sole plate and the Speed Pocket for versatility and speed.

The crown is still made from carbon and the 190cc head sits very well behind the ball, so all still good.

On Trackman using Titleist Pro V1 balls, the TaylorMade Qi10 fairway was giving similar numbers to Stealth 2, but this club is about accuracy for better players and there is still nothing to fault here.

The feel and sound is very good and the standard model is still going to be one of the fairways to beat in the market this year.

TaylorMade Qi10 Max Fairway Review

TaylorMade Qi10 Max Fairway

The TaylorMade Qi10 Max fairway has a larger 200cc head built in the same way with an extra degree of loft on each head to help with that launch.

This is a very easy fairway to hit and if it didn't spin as much as it does, I would be putting in the bag right away. The flight is high, but not as draw biased as you might think. It is however very consistent, so if you are a medium to slow swing speed player who struggles with your fairways then the Qi10 Max is worth considering.

At the other end of the scale, the TaylorMade Qi10 Tour fairway is for high speed players who need less spin and can afford a bit more control.

The 170cc head is 20cc more compact than the standard model, but still looks pretty playable if this is the one for you.

TaylorMade Qi10 Tour Fairway

Like the Stealth 2 Plus fairway, the Qi10 Tour has a sliding 50g in the sole that has been upgraded and moves the CG back and forward to change launch and spin.

When you do this it also changes the feel and balance of the club too, which can change the expected results.

As you can see from the results above, when the weight was at the back, I got the most spin and when it was at the front I got the least, as you would expect. However I probably preferred the front setting for feel and the lower trajectory could make this a good driving fairway on a firm course. The middle position just did not have the right feel for me so it may need a little bit of trial and error to set the Qi10 Tour fairway up for loft and weight position when you go for a SGGT custom fairway wood fitting.

TaylorMade Qi10 Fairway Review Summary

Overall the TaylorMade Qi10 fairways are an excellent family of heads that each has a place in the market. The standard model will be the go to fairway for most players, with the Qi10 Max offering assistance for those that need it. The Qi10 Tour will probably go down with elite players who can take advantage of the extra adjustability it offers. Head on down for a fitting and see which one chooses you.
