Penny Brown is a Ladies European Tour Access professional from Scotland who came into SGGT for a custom golf club fitting to improve distance without sacrificing height or landing angle into greens.

SGGT fitter Scott Fraser worked right through the bag with Penny to improve her stats and there were many gains as you can see in the video below.

With the irons custom fitting, Scott fitted a lighter shaft that gave more distance to the longer irons, with slightly bigger yardage gaps between clubs. So from 7-iron upwards they went for 12 yard gaps rather than 10 yard gaps. Through wedge custom fitting the gaps were the same as before but more consistent.

Penny commented, "The lighter shaft didn't feel much different to my previous one, but when I hit it harder I was getting more club head speed and more distance. Using the 4/6/8/P iron fitting at SGGT I was able to test this option right through the bag rather than have to guess where everything is going to fit in."

With the hybrid custom fitting Scott dialled the loft down a little to create a little more distance as they were already flying a little on the high side.

The fairway wood custom fitting saw a full club change to a shallower faced Ping G430 fairway, as Penny's previous model was OK from the tee but not consistent enough from the fairway. Combined with a softer tip in the shaft gave more distance from the fairway which brings par-5s and longer par-4s back into play in two shots.

Penny is a straight driver so in the driver custom fitting Scott could lengthen the shaft to generate more club head speed and distance without sacrificing accuracy.
