Scottish LET player Kylie Henry represents SGGT on tour and this week she was back in for a fairway wood fitting to see if the gap to her hybrid and driver could be filled better.

Kylie already has the AutoFlex shaft in her driver and hybrid and she was reaping the benefits of the lower weight and higher flight. Kylie is a Ping player and therefore we needed to find the right head and shaft combination from that range.

Autoflex

At SGGT we stock every Ping custom fitting fairway head and can pair it with over 150 different custom fitting shafts. With the focus on the AutoFlex SF505 shaft, then it was trying to find the right head to go with it.

Kylie's current Ping G430 Max fairway at 15° worked well with her current VA Raijin 64 Four shaft, but for the Autoflex shaft Scott switched her into the Ping G430 LST fairway.

The LST features a lighter titanium head with a heavier tungsten weight in the sole to launch it higher with less spin. It also has an adjustable hosel so this was adjusted up 1° to add to the launch.

Combine this with the higher launching AutoFlex shaft and the Trackman numbers showed a gain in carry of 4 yards, which is a lot for tour players.

The added benefit was that this created a bigger gap to her 19° Ping G430 hybrid which we could then strengthen by adjust the loft down 1° to give Kylie another option for long par-5 approach shots.

Find the right combination of fairway wood and shaft for your game by booking a fitting.
